Project Overview
We were instructed to manage a two-stage relocation for Mr Keane, moving his household contents from Melksham into our secure storage facility while legal paperwork cleared for the onward property purchase. Once confirmation was received, the second phase involved transporting the full load from storage to Ryde on the Isle of Wight via Southampton ferry.
The project required careful scheduling across storage handling, vehicle loading, ferry timing, and onward delivery to ensure everything stayed aligned and on schedule. Our objective was to keep the transition seamless for the client while maintaining full control over timing, security, and handling.
Scope of Works
The first phase involved transporting the client’s belongings from Melksham into our storage facility for approximately one week. Due to volume, we deployed our larger vehicle fitted with two storage pods and completed two trips between the property and storage to ensure safe loading and organised containment.
For the second phase, the team loaded directly from storage early in the morning to meet a 9:30am ferry crossing from Southampton. Transit across the Solent took approximately one hour, followed by a short 20-minute drive to the final property in Ryde.
On arrival, access was excellent with unloading positioned directly outside the entrance, allowing the full unload to be completed within approximately one hour.
Challenges and Solutions
- Staged relocation: Storage was required while property paperwork completed, so all items were logged, secured, and tracked to ensure accurate retrieval for the second phase.
- High volume handling: Two storage pods and multiple trips were scheduled to maintain safe loading rather than compressing capacity.
- Ferry logistics: Early departure and precise loading ensured arrival at Southampton port well ahead of the scheduled crossing.
- Time-sensitive coordination: Ferry timings dictated the day’s flow, so contingency planning was built into loading and route management.
- Efficient final access: Excellent unloading access allowed rapid placement and minimal disruption at the destination property.

The client benefited from a smooth, fully managed transition that removed the stress of managing storage, transport timing, and ferry logistics independently. Clear communication throughout both phases kept expectations aligned and avoided uncertainty while waiting for paperwork clearance.
The team maintained high morale and strong performance throughout the project. As a gesture of appreciation following a long operational day, staff were upgraded to experience the Signature Lounge on the Red Funnel return ferry, recognising their professionalism and effort.

The relocation was completed successfully across both stages, with all items protected, securely stored, and delivered on schedule once the onward property became available. Ferry timing was met without delay, unloading was completed efficiently, and the client transitioned into their new property without complications.
