Project Overview

In January 2025, Now We’re Moving & Storing were contacted by Rowland Stone Masonry on behalf of a homeowner whose property required urgent renovation after their ceiling subsided. To allow repairs to go ahead, all furniture and household sundries needed to be removed quickly and stored securely until the works were complete.

In addition to handling the emergency removal and storage, we were also tasked with helping the client relocate temporarily into an Airbnb property while the renovation was carried out.

Scope of Works

The client’s request included both speed and careful handling, as much of the furniture was brand new and required extra protection. Our scope of works included:

Full removal of all furniture and household items from the property
Packing and protection of new furniture for safe storage
Relocation of the client into a temporary Airbnb residence
Secure storage of all items until renovation completion
Scheduled redelivery once the property is fully repaired and ready to move back into

Protective Measures

To ensure the client’s belongings remained in perfect condition, our team used industry-grade packing and wrapping materials:

Mattresses & sofas sealed in polythene mattress bags
Pictures & artwork placed in padded picture carriers
Tabletops protected with export wrap (a heavy-duty bubble wrap that is waterproof on the outside and sweat-proof on the inside)
All furniture carefully packed into dedicated storage pods and sealed until the renovation was completed

Challenges and Solutions

Emergency Timescale – With the ceiling subsiding, works needed to start immediately. Our team mobilised quickly to complete the removal within 24 hours of the initial call.
Protecting Brand New Furniture – The client had recently purchased new furniture that had not yet been used. We applied multiple protective layers to ensure it remained as-new after months in storage.
Temporary Relocation – In addition to the removal and storage, we handled the move into an Airbnb property. This gave the client peace of mind and allowed them to continue with day-to-day life while their home was being repaired.

Client Experience

The homeowner was reassured by the speed of our response and the care taken with their belongings. Having one company manage the removal, storage, and temporary relocation simplified what could have been a very stressful process. By providing a full-service solution, we allowed both the client and Rowland Stone Masonry to focus on the property repairs while we handled the logistics.

Outcome

All items were removed, packed, and placed into secure pods at our storage facility. The pods will remain sealed until the renovation works are complete, at which point we will return everything to the newly refurbished home in the same condition it left.
